Banyuwangi is a gateway to Bali, it is located at the easternmost tip of Java Island and is well known for its ferry connection to Bali. This city has a lot to offer such as Blue fire, savannah, beautiful beaches to surf, and many more.

1. Ijen Crater
Banyuwangi is home to the iconic Blue fires, the phenomenon we are talking about is Kawah Ijen or Ijen Crater. The blue fire phenomenon is basically light from the combustion of sulfuric gases that pop up from cracks in the volcano at high pressure and temperature.
This phenomenon can often be seen streaming down the create at night. Travelers may need to depart from the hotel to Paltuding at the night, it takes around 1 hour from the town to Paltuding and then hike the mountain for 2 hours to 3 hours and then go down to the crater to get a closer look at the blue fire.
If you don’t want to go down to the crater, you can view the blue fire from the top while waiting for the sunrise light to bounce on the surface of the crater’s water, creating gorgeous scenery.

2. Djawatan Benculuk
If you want to have your “Lord of the Rings” fantasy come true, then djawatan Benculuk is the right place to go. The place has hundreds of timberland trees branch out in random directions creating surreal backdrops.
The best time to go here is morning or afternoon when the magical golden rays piercing through the trees, creating a surreal – ‘Lord of the Rings’ type of environment.

3. Savana Sadengan Banyuwangi
Savana Sadengan is one of few Savannas in Banyuwangi. This one is located in Alas Purwo National Park, 2 hours ride from the town. We can see wildlife from the observation post, and if we are lucky enough, we can see bulls, deers, monkeys, peacocks, eagles, and other wildlife. You can bring your binoculars to observe the wildlife during your visitation.

4. Baluran National Park
This national park is known as the African Savannah of Java, it is in Sumberwaru village, Banyuwangi district. It offers mount Baluran and gorgeous savannah with a wide range of exotic animals like buffalo, antelope, monkeys, peacocks, and many more. Another interesting spot in this national park is Bama beach, which offers white sand and coral reef, fish, and mangrove.
The best time to visit this national park is either morning or afternoon close to sunset time. You can combine a trip to Baluran National Park with the Ijen Tour. The first trip will be Ijen, and you can ask your driver to deliver you to the national park.

How to Get There from Central Banyuwangi?
There is no public transportation to reach those places. For Ijen volcano tours, you can use Shared Jeep or book a private tour. But we can also rent a bike to explore those places.
